The truth is, every circumstance is different because some hair types produce more oil than others. Also, it’s important to remember that oil is not a bad thing entirely as this oil is responsible for protecting the scalp and maintaining the health of your hair. However, sometimes we need to take steps to reduce the extent of oil buildup on the scalp and then apply some extra care to help maintain the overall health of our hair.
And what can you actually do to solve the problem of oily hair?
Hair care products are undoubtedly the best way to address oily hair but before we go there, let’s take a look at why oil buildup happens in the first place...
Why Oily Hair Can Happen to Anyone
Believe it or not, washing your hair too often can contribute to oil buildup. It’s true, washing the hair too often causes the scalp to produce more oil and so it’s better to at least wait a day or two before washing your hair again. Do you also brush your hair after every wash? Brushing your hair tends to drag sweat and sebum away from your scalp and into hair cuticles. Oil is then distributed with every brush and this sends messages to the scalp to produce more oil. Something similar happens when you use a straightener and hot tools that are likely to trigger the sweat glands. That being said, washing without shampoo does not combat oily hair and many substandard hair products lack the ingredients needed to break down this oil and address the problem.
Why You Need to Pay Attention to Oily Hair
Potential hydrogen (pH) refers to the level of acidity in your hair. It’s important to level out this pH in order to protect and maintain the health of your scalp/hair. You see, a dose of acidity can help your hair/skin as these acids help combat free radicals and microbes that cause damage and increase the general aging process. With this in mind, whether you happen to be dealing with itchiness, irritation or just oily hair, this might mean that you need to better balance the pH level of your scalp and hair.
Studies also indicate that excessive oil in the hair can lead to thinning as this accumulation of oil can clog up hair follicles. It’s one of the more serious concerns when it comes to oily hair and relatively common when the matter is left untreated. Oily hair is also a common reason for irritation and one that can leave the hair looking rather unhealthy to say the least. Whether this is due to negligence, your environment or simply using the wrong products, oily hair happens and it needs to be addressed.
And this is where the benefits of high quality hair products come into play....
The Benefits of High Quality Shampoo and Conditioner
Shampoo contains a series of ingredients called detergents and surfactants that help remove oil from the hair. That said, these cleaning agents also remove sweat, dirt or any other type of buildup and even pollutants collected from the environment. Meanwhile, conditioners consist of natural oils and extracts that keep the hair smooth, soft and shiny and then leave a protective film on the hair after a proper rinse.
Here are some examples of the benefits of shampoo and conditioner:
Removal of Oil/Dirt - High quality shampoo improves the condition of your hair and removes most oil which leaves the hair feeling more softer/nice. It’s true that rinsing with water can help but a proper cleaning agent is needed to break down oil or dirt.
Strengthening Follicles - Conditioner is proven to strengthen hair follicles and protect these follicles from incurring any damage from the sun. This also applies to heat in general and ensures your hair is protected in every type of environment.
Hair Fragrance - The vitamins, minerals and oils in a high quality shampoo stimulate the scalp and hair follicles. These often include natural oils which give off a natural fragrance and this is always much better than any amount of artificial ingredients that might leave the hair smelling “nice”!
Hair Color - High quality shampoo and conditioner is not harsh in terms of application which means it can help preserve the color of hair - especially if the hair-color has been treated. This means you can use certain high quality products to remove oil and dirt but without removing any color from your hair at the same time.
Replenish and Rejuvenate - High quality shampoo and conditioner can replenish and rejuvenate the scalp which helps when it comes to addressing oily hair. More specifically, these hair products will balance out the pH of your hair and ensure your scalp is not only looking better but also producing the right amount of oil.
While these are just a few examples of how hair products can improve the health of your hair, you should see that these benefits directly combat most problems associated with oily hair.
Final Thoughts
If oily hair is a concern, Reviv3 products can help remove excess sebum from the hair and rejuvenate the scalp. Reviv3’s 3 Part System also strikes the proper balance between shampoo and conditioner so that they don’t weigh down your hair and allow for a gentle wash that will leave your hair with the right amount of oil.
Moral of the story? High quality hair products are the best way to treat and alleviate any problems associated with oily hair.
]]>Nothing is worse than dying your hair and then watching the color fade with every passing day. It’s true, nothing lasts forever either (not even hair dye) but with some extra care and attention, you can certainly prevent this color from fading. But it’s also important to take a holistic approach and understand the overall health of your hair will have a significant impact on the speed at which this color might be fading!
What Might be Causing Your Hair to Fade?
Let’s begin with a major technical reason that can result in hair damage. Oxidization takes place when the hair receives too much oxygen from water or the atmosphere in your environment. Artificial hair molecules attract this oxygen and this causes the hair to fade. But that’s just part of the story...
You see, hair is dyed when particles of dye are trapped within the strands of your hair and it’s essential to take steps in order for these pigments to remain. Unfortunately, the use of certain shampoos and hair products can allow these pigments to escape and then leave this color looking rather dry, faint and even dull!
Let’s take a look at some ways in which you can prevent your color from fading...
1. Avoid Washing Your Hair with Hot Water
Just so you know, the “cuticle” is the outermost layer of your hair. You might think of this as roof tiles or fish scales, for the cuticle is the first line of defense and mostly responsible for protecting your hair shaft. But why am I telling you this?
Hot water can open the cuticle a little too much and allow even more color to run from your hair. This is something to avoid but unfortunately, washing the hair with hot water is often the main culprit when it comes to dry or dull-looking hair.
Takeaway - Wash your hair with lukewarm water.
2. Clarifying and anti-dandruff shampoos
Using clarifying or anti-dandruff shampoos may result in faster color fade. This happens because washing your hair with these types of shampoos can cause strands of hair to swell and this enables the color to wash out. You should also remember using the right hair and scalp care products can alleviate many of the reasons for dandruff while gently removing any buildup on the scalp.
Takeaway – Keeping a scalp healthy can prevent flaking and improve hair quality.
3. Try to Air-Dry Your Hair Instead of Using a Towel
Believe it or not, drying your hair with a towel can result in color fade. It makes sense but there’s a simple way to avoid this from happening - air drying. That’s right, instead of rubbing that color over and over until it disappears, it’s best to gently blot your hair with a towel and then allow the air to do the rest. It should also be mentioned that you should never attempt to use a style-iron or blow-dry your hair when it’s wet as this can cause hair strands to rupture and hence, cause untold damage to your hair.
Takeaway - Air-dry your hair as often as possible.
4. Use Hair Products that Actually Improve Your Hair
Sodium Lauryl Sulfates is a synthetic chemical that you want to avoid. Many hair products will contain this agent and it does more harm than good over the long term. Also, most traditional shampoo products are without the protective ingredients or technology that you will find with specialized hair products on the market. For instance, REVIV3 is a system that contains over 30 peptides, vitamins and plant extracts. This technology is a proven and fully-tested method that clears the scalp of toxins, while eliminating DHT - which is one of the main reasons for hair loss. While traditional shampoos may not “take away” from the color, they certainly don’t help and a prep shampoo and prime conditioner will do just the opposite!
Takeaway - Invest in specialized hair products to prevent color from fading.
5. Remember the Benefits of Using a Hair Mask
Reviv3 Mend deep repair hair masque helps nourish and moisturize the hair, while improving the strength and health of the scalp. For this reason, you might consider applying Mend once a week as part of your regimen. But that’s not the only reason because Mend uses vitamin E and UV filters to help prevent color fading. This means you can not only hope for soft and shiny hair but also the same vibrant color that you have come to know and love!
Takeaway – A deep hair masque treatment can improve your hair health and help prevent fade.
Conclusion
If you spend money to color of your hair (which I presume you do), it makes sense to give just as much attention to the maintenance of this color. In other words, using the right hair products enable this color to last longer, while improving the overall health of your hair. After that, a little extra care and attention goes a long way and you might just help prevent your color from fading - as quickly as it might be now!

Poor scalp health is indeed an alarming problem but don’t worry, it’s what we think about every day! REVIV3’s three-part system improves the overall health of scalp by targeting your scalp skin’s pH, reducing inflammation and delivering essential nutrients to your precious strands at the same time.
When it comes to scalp care, it is worth noting that hair structure is composed of two parts. First is the hair fiber that is visible and experiences the effects of environmental or weather damage, and the second is the hair bulb on the dermis level.
The hair bulb is the place where your hair is produced, so bringing active ingredients to the scalp can boost your hair for better locks. No matter if your scalp condition is dry, itchy, oily or flaky, a little care and proper application of products can go a long way.
For example, if you have a dry scalp, apply a little more PRIME Conditioner+ to the scalp using a gentle massage for a few minutes before rinse. Similarly, if you’re trying to fight off oil or acne then your scalp treatment should consist of taking extra time when using the PREP Cleanser.
Keep in mind, scalp skin is actually made up of thousands of glands and pores on or just below the surface. It causes the skin to shed dirt and impurities while producing sweat and oil. Just like healthy soil full of nutrients is needed to grow healthy plants, a healthy scalp with proper nutrients is needed to grow healthy hair.
Scalp treatment is one of the most underrated services. If you want healthy hair, you need to nourish the foundation at the scalp. Many of us unknowingly live with poor scalp health, but as we mentioned there are ways to treat and prevent that. There are so many other benefits of a scalp treatment. Let us discuss some of them here.
If you have oily hair, you are more susceptible to clogging as the oil combines with environmental debris and residues from styling products and create clogs which can cause thinning hair over time. REVIV3’s 3-PART SYSTEM is a reliable way to remove clogging on the scalp and reduce inflammation.
Give your scalp a gentle massage when using PREP and PRIME in the shower, and especially when using TREAT. A gentle massage can help to push the follicles around and loosen stubborn clogs.
Keep in mind, clogged follicles can also result in a lack of hair growth. By unclogging those follicles and resetting the sebum production levels, you allow your hair to return to the time it didn’t need to work so hard to penetrate through all that blockage.
Dandruff doesn't have to be an embarrassing thing anymore. Dandruff can be caused by either too much or too little oil production. However, oil on your scalp is not the only thing that will result in a dandruff problem. Many other factors can also cause it, like you may have a stressful month or your scalp is having a reaction to dust particles in the environment.
Whatever the problem, proper exfoliation with PREP helps you to get rid of all that dead skin followed by conditioning and moisturizing. Hence leaving a layer of fresh, healthy skin that also promotes healthy hair growth.
We usually don’t think about it, but our scalp ages too. We become more vulnerable to hair loss, thinning and greying. However, if you keep your scalp stimulated while consistently delivering balanced nutrients, aging of the scalp can be slowed. Just like good skin care for your face and body, proper scalp care can have a dramatically positive effect on your scalp, and ultimately on your hair.
This is kind of a big deal! As with the rest of our body, better circulation leads to better nutrient absorption and our ability to remove toxins. Treat Micro Active treatment is specifically designed to increase circulation on the scalp and protect follicles against environmental and chemical elements that can act to inhibit healthy hair growth.
The skin on your head is just as important as the skin on the rest of your body and even more so when it comes to the health of your hair. Just by adding a few easy steps to your daily regimen, you can be well on your way to a happy scalp and luscious, glowing and healthy hair.

What is Considered a Humid Climate?
A humid climate is when there is an excess of moisture in the air. This happens when there isn’t enough solar energy available to evaporate all of that excess water, resulting in wet, damp air. And there are two different types of humid climates to consider as well: polar humidity, which is when the air is colder and there is a presence of permafrost in the area; and phreatic, or hot, humidity, which is when all that excess moisture seeps through soil, vegetation and your hair. But not to worry. We’ve come up with a short list of tips that will help you have some of your best hair days on even the wettest days.
Make Sure to Moisturize
But I thought humidity meant water was in the air? Why would I need to moisturize if it’s already wet outside? Well, here’s the thing: our hair loves water. So much so that if we don’t moisturize it enough before we go outside it will absorb water from the air - which causes limp or frizzy hair.
Taking time to moisturize with shampoo and conditioner will help to lock in moisture and help to keep moisture from the air out. And unlike those of us living in a drier climate, it’s best to space out how often you shampoo your hair. Shampooing your hair more often in a more humid environment will reduce the amount of oil in your hair, causing limp or even frizzier hair. Allowing your scalp to create its natural oils will help you keep volume as well as to reduce all that wear-and-tear of humidity.
But if you are still seeing a lot of frizz in your strands, or your hair is limp and lacking volume, don’t be shy to condition the ends and tips of your hair a couple more days out of the week. This will help to keep volume and lock in moisture without removing oil from your scalp. You can also consider other remedies like leave-in conditioners, anti-frizz products, or using a moisturizing masque once a week.
Rinse with Cold Water
In a way, our hair conducts like metal. The cuticles in our hair close and open depending on the amount of heat we add to it. If your cuticles are hot and open, they are more likely to absorb excess moisture and lose composure. Rinsing with colder water will keep your cuticles closed and help you to keep your hair from absorbing unwanted moisture.
Be Careful with How You Dry Your Hair
How we choose to dry our hair in a humid climate can often be the make or break point of whether we’re going to have a hair day or not. Choosing to allow your hair to dry on its own while dabbing or squeeze drying with a towel will help to reduce loose strands and to help keep your hair together and voluminous. Roughing your hair up with a towel when you get out of the shower will only leave a moppy, out-of-control mess.
Also try to do your best to avoid using a blow-dryer. Using extra heat to dry your head can help in creating volume if you use lightly on your roots. But using throughout your entire head will just result in more puff and frizz.
Longer Hair is Easier to Manage
It is a common misconception that shorter hair is better and easier for a humid climate. This is false. Shorter hair is actually more likely to lose its form and get puffy throughout the day. Instead, grow your hair out. The weight from the extra strands help to reduce the puff. Longer hair also allows for you to add more layers, creating more options and control when styling.
If Nothing Else, Where Your Hair Up
And if nothing else seems to be working, or you just don’t have time to work with your hair one morning, wear it up in a relaxed ponytail or bun. This is easier to manage and will stop your hair from getting too frizzy or getting too puffy. As a bonus, it will also cut down on the amount of stress put on your roots by other hair styles.
We hope these hair care tips for a humid climate help you to tame even the messiest hair on the wettest days. Living - or evening visiting - a humid area is a battle and balance of having the right amount of moisture in your strands and these tips should help you to take control.

]]>Well, we have good news, you CAN bring it back to life!
And to help you in your journey to healthy, luxurious, and shiny hair, we’ve put together some of the best ideas, practices, and products that will help restore, revitalize, and transform your hair from ‘hay’ to ‘heyyyyy!’.
CUT IT OUT
Split ends are often the biggest culprit when it comes to hair that looks and feels dry or damaged. Having your hair trimmed on a regular basis (most stylists recommend a trim every 4 to 6 weeks), can have long-lasting effects on your locks.
FIND THE RIGHT ONE
As much as we all want to treat ourselves to a nice cleansing wash every morning, we might actually be doing a disservice to our hair if we aren’t using the right products. Washing your hair on a daily basis with the wrong hair care products can strip your hair of Sebum, the natural oil that makes your hair shiny and easy to maintain. If your hair is feeling dry and damaged, try a gentle, paraben-free shampoo like REVIV3’s Prep Cleanser Shampoo. In addition to adding essential nutrients to your precious hair bulbs, PREP does not clog your follicles that can cause hair thinning over time.
WEAR A MASQUE
Using a great shampoo and conditioner like REVIV3’S Prime Moisture + Conditioner can make a world of difference when it comes to repairing your dry or damaged hair, but if you really want to tame those tresses you’ll want to add a masque treatment to your hair regimen. Try adding the Mend Deep Hair Repair Masque, once a week to your hair care regimen which can help hydrate and strengthen your hair, leaving it strengthened, nourished, and vibrant. Keeping to the theme of healthy follicles, Mend does not leave any product residues on your scalp which as we mentioned above can create clogging.
PROTECT IT
A leave-in treatment can help transform your hair from dry and brittle into the shiny and damage-free locks of your dreams! The Reviv3 Thermal Protector is both a leave-in conditioner and a thermal protector spray. Its active botanical ingredients, including walnut leaf extract and agave extract, will leave your hair smooth, shiny, and frizz-free. It also provides UV color protection to keep those colored locks vibrant and beautiful.
TURN THE HEAT DOWN
Blow drying, curling, or straightening your hair on a regular basis might be part of your daily hair routine, but it may also be contributing to the damage that is making your hair dry, brittle, and unmanageable. If you can, try to cut down on how often you use heat-styling tools. At the very least, make sure that you are keeping your blow dryer at least 6 inches away from your hair when you use it.
CHILL OUT AND SHINE ON
The idea of blasting yourself with cold water at the end of your shower might not sound very appealing, but it may have some benefits that are worth considering. When you rinse your hair in cool water, it removes excess product while still allowing your hair to retain the moisture and conditioner that it needs. It also closes the cuticles in your hair, which makes the light reflect off of your hair, resulting conditioned and shiny strands.
It may take some time, but with the proper maintenance and care, your dry hair can be renewed, restored, and REVIV3D!

Fish Like Salmon and Mackerel
Fish like salmon and mackerel contain omega-3 fatty acids. People are usually after these kinds of fats to help build a strong immune system or to treat anxiety and depression. But it can also help with hair growth and achieving a sleeker shine. Our bodies don’t produce omega-3 naturally, so adding a consistent intake of these fatty acids can really have a strong and positive effect.
Greek Yogurt and Other Dairy Products
Calcium found in dairy products, like yogurt, is another nutrient that helps with hair growth. If you’re not lactose sensitive, dairy may be helpful as it also contains whey and casein, two great sources for producing protein. Protein helps to build strength in your strands, and having enough of it will prevent brittle hair and breakage.
Chicken and Turkey
The more obvious place to find protein is in meat. Eating meats like chicken and turkey will help you get more than enough protein, while avoiding the more saturated fats found in beef and pork. It’s important to keep in mind that without protein your hair stops growing. When it stops growing, it can start to fall out and nobody wants that.
Greens Like Spinach and Kale
Greens pack a punch containing a number of nutrients including folate, iron, beta carotene and Vitamins A & C. Vitamins A & C particularly work great together in producing sebum, a natural oil that helps stop your scalp from drying out and losing its shine. You can also obtain more than adequate amounts of protein from vegetables alone. It just requires eating more quantities of veggies as they are not as dense as meats. Eating as much veggies as possible as always a great rule of follow.
Fruits Like Guava and Kiwi
These kinds of fruits are brimming with Vitamin C. On its own, Vitamin C helps with the absorption of iron, which benefits follicle strength and keeps hair from falling out. Just one cup of a guava contains 377 milligrams of Vitamin C, more than four times the daily recommended amount.
Eggs
Another great product for protein, eggs, are also rich in biotin (or “Vitamin B”) which is another great nutrient for hair growth. Having enough biotin in your system will work to prevent breakage and hair loss. Biotin can also be found in a variety of different whole-grains. If eggs are not your preferred source of protein or biotin, you can opt for biotin enriched Boost to aid your follicles’ nutritional needs.
Oysters, Crab and Lobster
One nutrient we haven’t yet mentioned is zinc. Zinc can be found in many seafoods like oysters and shellfish, and is great in preventing dry and flaky scalps. If you are experiencing dandruff, consider stopping by your local seafood bistro sometime this week!
Cinnamon
Containing a mix of calcium, iron and Vitamin A, cinnamon is great for increasing blood flow. Healthy blood flow to the scalp brings nutrients and oxygen to your hair follicles. Our bodies use blood flow as the vehicle to deliver the nutrients that we talked about.

]]>1: Color Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner.
These products are developed specifically to keep your color lasting longer by adding protein and/or moisture that your color treated hair will need. Ask your stylist on what they recommend for your new color. Make sure to stay away from sulphates. They can strip the color and leave your hair feeling brittle. Reviv3 Shampoo and Conditioner is a perfect example of a sulphate-free option. Not only is it safe on your chemically treated hair, but it is amazing for the health of your scalp as well. It helps to prevent product buildup and dry flaky scalp and is created with naturally derived ingredients!
2: Give your hair a few days of rest
You just got a beautiful blowout or some kick*** curls, keep 'em. Color tends to bleed, especially the first few washes, so give it some time to settle in.
3: Reviv3 Shampoo and Condition
Before you apply color to keep that same gorgeous tone that you walked out of the salon with. The more impurities you remove before applying color, the longer your hair will absorb and maintain your new color or highlights.
4: Skip dry shampoos
There is no need to add more chemicals to your hair. With a little help, our scalp has its own amazing system of keeping our hair healthy and happy. We recommend staying away from dry shampoos as they can build up in your hair and clog your follicles. This may lead to thinner hair over time.
5: Deep Conditioner or Masques
Deep Conditioner Masques are crucial to maintaining your color. If you have lightened your hair, go for a masque for damaged hair. Reviv3 Mend is an excellent example of a multitasking masque. It not only moisturizes hair strands, but also your hair follicles. It strengthens and revives the natural elasticity of your hair, repairs damage and prevent split-ends and breakage.
6: Mend it up
Give those ends some love! After shower, applying a dime size Mend to damp hair. Just emulsify in your hands and run through from mid-shaft to ends for an amazing shine!
7: Skip the Clarifier
Clarifying shampoos can also strip away the color you love. Reviv3 Prep can prepare your hair for your stylist and protect your scalp from the sometimes harsh chemicals. Bonus: a well moisturized scalp helps prevent that dreaded "I just colored my hair" ring around your hairline and more importantly promote healthy hair growth.
8: Heat and UV Protection
Whether you are using a blow-dryer, curling iron or you are in the sun a lot, it is super important to protect that hair. There are many products that you can use; everything from a gloss to a primer, to a hairspray. A perfect option is a multi-tasker like Reviv3 Protect. It's a leave-in conditioner and Thermal Protector spray that detangles and maintains the hairs moisture and protein. It also reduces frizziness which is just a bonus. Even more, it's alcohol free so you know it won't dry your hair out. And last but not least, it provides UV color protection; and that's what we're here for right?
9: Cool Water
This is a hard one for me. Don't we all love hot showers? But a cool rinse is a great way to keep your hair smooth and shiny. It helps to seal down that cuticle so your hair is also less likely to break or get split ends. It also helps keep your color from bleeding! So many great things, but so hard to do.
So, there you are! 9 ways to keep your hair beautiful all year long. Make sure to keep it natural. You wouldn't eat chemicals, so why would you put them on your body? Explore Reviv3 Procare’s shop to browse our all-natural products that are safe for hair dyes!
]]>One issue that almost everyone has with their morning routine is brushing or styling hair while it is still wet. Wet hair is more elastic and easier to break. Allowing it to dry first will help reduce split-ends and keep your hair healthy.
Sleeping on cotton is basically allowing your hair to be pulled and teased all night. Our pillowcases can be incredibly fibrous and your hair gets caught in them instead of holding its own shape throughout the night. Consider using softer pillowcases made of materials like silk or satin. Not only will your hair thank you but you may find you get a better night’s sleep!
A common mistake many of us make is heating up our styling tools much hotter than we need to. This leads to evaporating out the moisture of your hair and a lot more split-ends. The ideal temperature for styling is right around 365 degrees. We do offer Reviv3 Protect that does a great job of protecting your hair from heat of up to 425 degrees.
Wearing buns and braids is a quick and easy way to get us going in the morning but they also can cause a lot of wear on our roots, especially when you use metal clips or nylon. Putting your hair up occasionally is ok, but be sure not to cinch it too tightly.
It’s easy to put off going to see your stylist, especially if you’re growing your hair out. But unkempt hair means more mangle and more split-ends. Visiting your stylist for a quick trim every 4-6 weeks is a good rule of thumb. In the meantime, make sure incorporate Reviv3 Mend in your regimen at least twice a month to protect against split-ends and hair damage.
Something many of us don’t think about is whether our beauty products are clean or not. Heating tools build grime over time and hair brushes accumulate oils and dead skin cells (gross!). Clean your supplies about once a month, wipe down heating tools and let your hair brush soak in baking soda and water to remove that unwanted dirt.
You’re likely not taking into consideration where you live when shampooing your hair. Varying climates have a huge effect on how moisture stays in our hair throughout the week. For those of us in humid climates, you should be shampooing your hair no more than twice a week. For those of us in the drier areas of the world, 3-4 times is a good target to aim for.
At a minimum, you should be conditioning your hair in the shower 1-2 times a week, and 3-4 times if you live in a drier climate. Using a deep hair conditioning masque once a week is never a bad idea either.
Much like our cotton pillowcases, many towels can be incredibly fibrous, and work to agitate our cuticles and pull apart our natural strands. Instead of bombarding your head with cotton, use a softer microfiber towel after hopping out of the shower.
When we think about staying protected from the sun we usually have our skin in mind. But the sun can take a toll on our hair as well. Exposure to the sun causes our hair to dry out and weaken over time. Using a thermal protector spray will not only help keep your hair moisturized throughout the day, but will also reduce the amount of split-ends and breakage in your hair.
Too many products and chemicals in your hair each day is never a good thing. If you’re using more than 3-4 products each morning, consider cutting down to the essentials. Allowing your hair to breathe and be itself as much as possible will lead to healthier and happier strands.

Dry climates have less precipitation than evaporation. These dry climate zones cover about 26% of the world’s land area. Summers in these areas are hot to very hot and seldom experience rain. Winter days may be cool or warm, and winter nights can be very cold. The most notable trait is the dry air. If you have hair and are living in these areas, then we are preaching to your choir. But don’t worry, there’s help.
For those of us who live in these drier climates, it boils down to trying to keep moisture in our hair and avoiding damage from the sun. With a lack of moisture in our hair, it can become that much harder to manage our flat, frizzy hair and to stop our scalp from drying out. But not to worry. We’ve come up with a handful of strategies to keep your hair voluminous and luscious in even the driest of climates.
Like I mentioned, dry heat loves to zap the moisture out of your hair. If you don’t moisturize your hair enough during the week, by the end of it, you won’t have any moisture left in it.
Make sure that you shampoo and condition your hair 3-4 times a week. There are plenty of YouTube hair care gurus that swear by using conditioner just once a week. But chances are that those gurus live in a much more humid environment than you. For those of you living in the desert or high mountains, we have to be a lot more persistent with adding moisture to our hair. While using shampoo and conditioner every day is almost never a good idea, using products for about half of the days of the week helps to lock in moisture.
Also consider using a moisturizing masque once a week. Masques help to lock in moisture for longer periods of time as well as help repair damaged hair. Reviv3 has a fantastic, protein-rich masque free of those harsh chemicals that often work to dry out and damage your hair.
The last thing you need in a dry and hot environment is more heat. Using a blow-dryer in the morning instead of letting your hair dry on its own just takes that much more moisture away. Instead, do your best to dab your hair dry with a towel or use a softer cloth like cotton from a t-shirt. This will help to keep your hair moisturized and reduce the amount of frizz in your hair.
However, if you must use a blow-dryer, take a few additional steps to reduce the negative effects from the dry heat. Keep the dryer at least six inches away from your head, use the “cool” setting and don’t concentrate the hot air on an area of your head for more than 10 seconds.
Using a humidifier in your room while you sleep has a number of benefits to it. The main benefit that we are after here is that it will help your hair maintain and keep its moisture in the night. But a humidifier will also help your skin to stay moisturized as well as help to alleviate seasonal allergies.
Just like our skin, our hair can become damaged and dry from the sun and its ultraviolet rays. Reviv3 has a great product for this form of protection. Not only does it protect from UV rays and heating tools, but it is also free of alcohol and other harsh chemicals. It also beats wearing a hat or using “hair sunscreen” with chemicals that claim to offer similar protection from the sun.
Like certain types of moisturizers, oils can help lock in moisture and help to keep your hair saturated throughout the day. Most oils are most effective when they are applied during your morning routine, helping to keep moisture from drying out. But other oils, like argan oil, can be applied at night, helping to maintain moisture while you sleep. Pair that with your humidifier and you should have luscious locks before you even hit the shower.
So, if you find yourself living in a drier climate - or are even just going to be visiting one for a while - consider using these hair care tips. They should help keep your hair from drying out and taking on too much frizz.
And be sure to check out many of our other natural, alcohol and chemical free products. We specialize in follicle repair and growth, and as well as helping you to moisturize and get the most out of your hair.

Understanding how hair grows is knowledge we feel pretty good about. Hair grows in cycles. One cycle is anagen which is the first growth phase. 90% of your hair is this. It can last anywhere from 2 to 8 years. Hair generally grows about 1 cm a month during this time. The longer the phase, the longer your hair will grow. Everyone’s duration is different. It’s why some people can’t grow their hair as long.
Another phase is called catagen. This is a transitional stage and lasts for only a few weeks. Around 3% of your hair is in this stage as we speak. During this stage hair growth stops, the root begins to shrink and hair becomes inactive. It’s not a fun stage for anyone. No one wants a scalp populated with dying hair.
The last stage is telogen. It’s the third act of the play on the theater of your scalp. This is the “resting phase” of the growth cycle. Nearly 8% of your hair is currently at this stage. It’s a slow death that plays out in about 100 days. On a regular basis you can lose over a 100 hairs a day. Normally it can go unnoticed. But when your hair cycle is disrupted your hair loss becomes far more prominent. Let’s talk about some reasons why this could happen.
One of the other things we don’t understand about our bodies is how to maintain a proper weight. It’s not uncommon for us to put on a few pounds now and then, it’s also not uncommon for us to make a drastic change that brings on a massive weight loss. It’s not always good for you to do this and can put your body in shock. Your hair can be affected this way.
Related to putting your body in shock is anemia. This is defined as a low number of red blood cells. A deeper definition is low hemoglobin which is the main protein in your blood. When this is low your tissues and organs are not getting enough oxygen. From this you could experience fatigue, body pain, and of course, hair loss. Women are more likely to experience anemia. It’s often passed down through your genes. It is also related to periods and to pregnancy when your body is requiring a higher blood supply.
You probably didn’t see this coming. Your body has a fine line when it comes to your intake of vitamin A. First off, when your body is deficient in vitamin A, it can produce an energy-conserving reaction. During this your hair cell regeneration, and growth slow down. It can force hair into the telogen phase longer than normal.
Instinctively you would want to raise your levels of Vitamin A, but too much can have the same results. Vitamin A is fat-soluble so your body stores more than other vitamins. Too much vitamin A can cause your hair follicles to reach the end of the growth phase at a much quicker rate than it wants to, the results being your hair falls out faster than the body can replace it.
This type of hair loss is called “Traction Alopecia”. Pulling your hair back too hard in specific styles such as ponytails, braids, or corn rows can cause permanent damage to your hair follicles. If your hairstyle is causing you physical pain at any time of the day, it might be time to think of a new one. This is a subject we continue to discuss on this blog.
This one you probably saw coming. Getting older and hair loss go hand in hand. Women over the age of 40 can see an unwanted increase in hair loss. There are solutions that are proven effective and safe for your hair that can slow down and even stop the hair loss. So, aging gracefully is a lot easier than you think.
There are other issues related to hair loss such as chemotherapy, specific medications, menopause, or just down to the heredity hair losses from your family history. You don’t always have control over these, but you can at least combat them. Reviv3 is truly a one-of-a-kind hair treatment that is clinically tested and proven for you to experience fuller, thicker, more luxuriant hair growth, without any harsh side effects. We know a lot about hair loss and we have a passion for helping those with it.]]>
First Off, Keep Your Scalp Clean
You might think regular shampoo is the answer for this. But it’s not. Take a moment to read the ingredients of what you’re putting into your hair. If you’re three words in and you feel like you’re failing a science exam then you’re probably putting your scalp in detention. There are natural solutions to having a healthier scalp. We know because we make them. Our products are natural derived and do not include any harsh chemicals that may be harmful to your hair or clog your follicles. So not only will they protect it, but they will help them heal.
If Your Hair Style Is Hurting You, It’s Hurting Your Hair Too
With great hair comes great hair-responsibility. It’s easy to take all those luscious locks and toss them under a hat or in a pony-tail when running out the door. But if you’re finding discomfort while confining your hair, then you’re probably hurting it. It’s not a game of tug of war. Take a few extra moments to let your hair be free. Plus, that’s where all the compliments come from.
Get it Out of the Heat and Cold
Sure, we just scolded you about shoving your hair in a hat, so how are you supposed to cover it during rough weather? A loose-fitting hat, a nice hoodie, all these can be your friend. But there’s more than just the heat from the Sun. Blow-dryers, curling-irons, straighteners can do far more damage than the outside can ever do. We’re not saying to avoid these things, but if you plan on using them, check out our selections of products to help protect from the heat.
Break it off with Your Damaged Ends
The ends of your hair have seen a lot, they are the oldest parts of your hair. You can see their scars in their split ends. It’s a good strategy to cut them every 6 weeks or so. By using healthier products in your hair you see a very noticeable decrease in split ends. You can grow your hair out in half the time.
Stop Experimenting with Chemical Based Solutions
Your hair wants to be healthier, naturally. The idea of putting chemical filled products in your hair to help restore just doesn’t make sense. We have clinically tested and proven products that are plant-based. So give your hair the love it deserves.
Brush Your Hair When It’s Wet
A comb or brush has much more success with wet hair. You’ll find far less breakage. Plus doing this will help give your hair more time to dry naturally.
Take Extra Care of your Hair After You Color it
Dying your hair can damage it. But this shouldn’t stop you from coloring it. We understand that often hair can be an artist’s palette and we make products to help support that. Our products not only help your hair stay healthier after coloring, but also help the color last longer.
Be Careful How You Towel Dry
So first you’re telling me a blow-dryer is dangerous, but now a towel too? Well, it’s all how you use them. Never rub out water, you should always pull out dampness by wrapping the towel around your hair. Rubbing your hair damages it, especially when it’s wet and it’s most vulnerable. You’ve got a lot of things to do when you get out of the shower, let your hair be last.
Damaged hair is frustrating. Everyone’s hair reacts differently and that’s okay. We make products for every hair. Take our Hair Quiz today and see how you can start repairing your hair, today. We are excited to see how it works for you.
]]>Even more so, “Why is it starting in the first place?” The answer to that question often depends on a few factors: Who were your parents and grandparents? Have they lost a lot of hair? What does your daily routine look like? Are you stressed? What does your diet look like? Answers and solutions to these questions will depend on who you are and where you come from. If you take the time to look around in your life, you might find a few of the things that have sparked your hair loss.
Mind Your Hormones
Hair loss can often reflect what is going on with your hormones. Is there a trend of male or female-patterned baldness in your family? Have you recently stopped taking or switched birth control?
For those of us with specific inherited hormones and who have hair-loss in the family, we can often think that there isn’t a solution to hair-loss and it’s just the way it is. You might be tempted to take certain chemical heavy medications like Rogaine. The idea behind the drug is that it thickens your hair follicles and creates extra hair growth- which can also lead to you growing hair in places you haven’t before. But this solution isn’t a guarantee for everyone.
There are many considerations to taking Rogaine. One would be if you’ve switched or started taking birth control, this can cause a spike in hormones. Anytime you’re adding or reducing heavy medications in your body it’s good to keep in mind how it will affect you physically.
How is Your Vitamin Intake?
Like medications, it’s good to understand what and how many vitamins you’re putting into your body. A lack of vitamins like zinc, iron, protein or vitamin B can result in hair starting to fall out of your head. Taking extra supplements of these vitamins sometimes reverse this. However, taking too many vitamins, particularly vitamin A, can also result in hair-loss. It’s about balance. Understand what your body needs and what it already has.
How are You Managing Stress?
Factors like high fevers, blood loss and surgery- anything that puts extra strain on your body or mental health can cause stress leading to hair-loss. It’s good to find routines and habits that keep you calm, collected and healthy. Meditation, daily exercise, better diets and avoiding obvious stressors in your life are all positive ways to avoid hair-loss. Hair falling out of your head might just be a sign for you to take a look at your daily life and evaluate how often you are feeling stressed out.
Be Careful with How You Style Your Hair
Too much product isn’t a good thing. The roots in your head can start to become irritated or dry out when you use too many chemicals and gels. And tight braids and specific hair styles can also put a lot of strain on your head. Let your hair breathe and be itself as often as possible. And when you do add product to your hair, consider alternatives like coconut or olive oil rather than shampoos and conditioners with much harder chemicals. These oils can also protect your scalp from dryness and sun damage.
Have You Taken A Natural Approach?
If you change what you eat, you feel better. If you change what you put in your hair, it will be better too. Imagine a natural approach to making your hair stronger. REVIV3 is committed to using the highest quality active ingredients for scalp skin care. It’s an all-natural solution to thicker hair. That means it is sulfate-free, drug-free, and paraben-free. There are sodium benzoate or sodium chloride. If you have no idea what any of these ingredients are, then what business do you have putting them in your hair.
Let your hair heal the natural way and see how Reviv3 can get you back on track to having healthier, thicker hair again.
]]>Many people enjoy a glass of wine over dinner or a cocktail with friends after work. Alcohol, after all, provides the social lubrication for so many of our encounters. Saint Patrick’s Day is another reason to hit the pubs and celebrate. But have you ever stopped to wonder if booze is behind hair loss? You may need a drink before you read any further…
Seriously though; if you drink responsibly then you shouldn’t have to worry too much; six medium glasses of wine or six pints of beer per week shouldn’t have too much effect. But if you drink beyond that then you can expect problems.
Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to an increase in risk of heart disease stroke, liver disease, and even certain types of cancer. And as for our hair? Sheesh.
Dehydration
You don’t need to be a doctor to know that alcohol leads to dehydration – it’s a diuretic for goodness sake. But water plays a major role in our health. If the skin isn’t hydrated then we lose strength and elasticity – and that can damage our hair follicles. The problems don’t stop there either; dehydration leads to dry skin which can lead to itching, damaging the scalp even further.
Acid Build Up
We already consume acids via cheese, meats, and veggies, all of which affect the body’s PH levels. Alcohol also contains acids and so once the body has too much acid in it, it has to burn it off. Keratin, used to create hair follicles, plays a huge role in this process but we need that Keratin to stop our hair becoming brittle and easier to break. Once it’s diverted to help with PH levels, our hair suffers.
Preservatives
Too much booze in your system can affect the levels of good bacteria that keep our hair healthy – and that’s because alcohol contains preservatives. Preservatives destroy bacteria – good and bad – which can lead to inconsistencies in gut bacteria. Once you mess with gut bacteria you can expect health problems – including hair loss.
Zinc Loss
Drinking can lead to mineral and vitamin deficiencies. Low nutritional levels can also lead to hair loss because zinc is necessary to create Keratin (which we now know is imperative for hair follicle formation). Zinc deficiency can ultimately lead to follicle hypoplasia, a fancy term for follicles that can’t develop correctly.
Sleep
Booze also interferes with sleep that can lead to stress – which, in turn, can interfere with the flow of oxygen to the hair follicles. It can also lead to neurogenic inflammation and cytokine imbalance, both of which can lead to some very bad hair days.
All this to say that excessive drinking can lead to hair loss in a variety of ways. But you can also always turn to Reviv3 products to help hydrate your scalp and protect your valuable hair follicles too.
MEND, for example, is designed to strengthen, revive elasticity, repair damage, control frizz and limit chemical stress of all hair types while giving you shine and ease of styling.
BOOST, used twice daily, provides low-density density areas with a Tri-peptide dermal respiratory complex designed to increase cellular turnover and return scalp skin to a more youthful state.
And don’t forget our 3-Part System Starter Kit; it’s one system for all hair types, natural and chemically treated hair, for men and women in one convenient kit.
Have a great St. Patrick’s Day and if you’re heading out, drink safely and responsibly!
]]>We’re back with part two of our top ten tips to cope with stress-related hair – and not a moment too soon. Let’s dive straight in. If you haven`t read Part 1 find it here.
]]>Protein
Make sure you eating plenty of protein – after all, hair is composed primarily of the stuff so having it in your diet is essential. With little to no protein, hair stops growing – so when existing hair hits the end of it’s natural lifespan and falls out, you’ll notice a thinning. However, with protein back in your diet it will start growing again – so hit that fish, white poultry, eggs, dairy products, beans, beef, veal, pork and tofu!
Vitamins
B vitamins are a great source of healthy hair growth so increase your dose of them. At the same time, you’ll want to watch your intake of A vitamins as too much of them might trigger hair loss. You can find more B vitamins in fish, lean meat, starchy veggies, and non-citrus fruits. To cut back on Vitamin A, try avoiding supplements that contain it (the recommended daily intake of Vitamin A is 5,000 IU.
Low Calorie Diets
If you’re avoiding too many calories, you’re also unwittingly avoiding vitamins, healthy fats, and nutrients – all of which are needed for healthy hair. You’ll want to add calories back in but avoid rapid weight loss which can sometimes trigger hair loss. Lose weight slowly and don’t be afraid of all high-fat, high-calorie foods because some of them are healthy for you (like nuts, oily fish, and avocados).
Treat Your Hair Right
Taking care of your hair will make it stronger. We recommend our three-part system starter kit that is designed (and clinically proven) to strengthen your hair 300%. Avoid hair products with too many chemicals such as sulfates and parabens.
Avoid Over-Styling
The more you blow-dry, straighten, or curl your hair, the more havoc you will wreak on it. Try air-drying your hair naturally (it’s not like you have to go out right now!) or curling your hair with rollers. Be careful of hair-styles that pull on your hair like ponytails because that leads to traction alopecia. Color treatments are another no-no because they can over-process your hair.
To sum up:
Practice relaxation techniques regularly.
Exercise regularly.
Talk to a therapist.
If there’s no therapist option, open up to a friend.
Eat a healthy diet.
Add multivitamins to ensure you’re getting enough.
Treat your hair with care.
Using these tips will give your hair the fighting chance it needs right now as we all stress out about…well, everything.
]]>These are some pretty stressful times for everyone – and rather than tearing out our hair, some of us are seeing it fall out anyway. So let’s take a quick look at how stress and anxiety play a role in hair loss – but also offer up ten tips on how to counter those effects.
First off, there are three general conditions that can trigger hair loss.
Telogen effluvium
Sometimes stress can force hair follicles into a resting phase – which is why telogen effluvium is a common cause of temporary hair loss. It can be caused by stress, poor nutrition, and changes in hormone levels.
Trichotillomania
This is a psychological condition wherein people pull their hair out under stressful and tense situations. It’s most commonly witnessed in teenage girls.
Alopecia areata
This is a condition that sees the body’s own immune system attacking hair follicles. It can lead to thinning hair or bald spots and can come and go over time. While not caused by stress – it’s assumed genetics play a role – it can be incredibly stressful.
Stress and Hair Loss: Reminder Tips to Cope
Stress comes in many forms. Any kind of stressful situation can lead to hair loss including surgery, chronic illness, pregnancy, financial concerns, anti-depressant medication, relationship issues, and injury. Here are some tips that we all know to help but good to remember during these times.
Sleep
Not sleeping properly can add to both mental and physical stress. Find a regular sleep pattern to get yourself in; that means going to sleep and waking up around the same time every day. The latest advice tells us that seven hours sleep is ideal. To help, avoid doing anything stimulating before bedtime; don’t go near scary films or the news, and don’t eat or exercise then either. Take a hot bath or read a book.
Diet
A healthy diet does wonders! It gives us energy and helps deal with stress (it also strengthens the hair so it’s less likely to fall out). Eat at least three balanced meals a day including a breakfast to get your metabolism going. Try avoiding processed foods, sugary foods, and foods high in trans-fats. Add more fruit and veggies to your diet. Introduce a vitamin regimen too, being sure to take vitamins A, B, C, and E, alongside zinc, selenium, and magnesium. Omega-3 fatty acids can also help improve the scalp’s health.
Exercise
When we exercise, we release endorphins that aid us in feeling more relaxed and calm. You can do any form of exercise – cycling, running, rowing, dancing, etc. – as long as you increase your heart rate. Perhaps do yoga and/or meditation too because they’ve been proven to lower levels of stress.
Friends & Family
We need to talk to a therapist if our emotional stress is building and building. Some therapists currently work via Zoom or other similar type apps so you don’t have to meet in person. But in many cases, talking to our close friends and family can be very cathartic and beneficial.
In our next blog, we’ll go through some more ways to avoid stress-related hair loss! In the meantime, don’t forget, our natural, plant-based product is clinically tested to increase hair strength by up to 300% – so that’s going to help a lot too! From all of us here at Reviv3, we hope you’re keeping healthy!
]]>Basically, winter is like a potpourri of environmental changes and unless you take the proper care of your scalp and hair then you’re letting in the dreaded Dehydration Monster. That’s because switching all day long from cold weather to indoor heat makes the scalp a battleground for dehydration and we all know what that monster brings with it: brittle, breakable hair and a dry scalp.
Problems That Develop In The Cold
There are a handful of hair issues that cold weather creates:
1. Split Ends
Those split ends you’re seeing are thanks to the cold and you can’t just keep taking scissors to them unless you want to end up with a buzz cut (not that there’s anything wrong with a buzz cut – but it’s better that you want one).
2. Dandruff
Cold air sucks moisture from the hair, creating dandruff. Isn’t it better to just enjoy the snow outside instead of constantly brushing what looks like snow from your shoulders?
3. No More Shine
Your hair can lose its shine and luster too – another side effect of losing moisture. Wouldn’t it be nice to have that back during winter? Yes please!
4. Hat Hair
In the cold we tend to wear hats – and that also creates stress on the hair. Indeed, you might be taking small clumps of hair with you each time you pull that gorgeous wooly hat off. No thanks!
5. Static
With the lack of humidity, protons, neutrons, and electrons start moving around which causes an electric charge. Now do you see why it was important to pay attention in Chemistry class?
6. Seasonal Hair Loss
We do lose hair in the cold but it’s not because of the cold per se. It’s down to the lack of hydration and humidity.
Practical Tips
So what can we do? There are some practical tips we can take use every day. They include:
1. Avoiding Alcohol-Based Products.
If any of your hair products contain alcohol then you’re asking for trouble as it sucks out what little moisture you have left.
2. Conditioning More.
A lot of stylists suggest that we use more conditioners, serums and leave-in treatments during colder months.
3. Not Using Very Hot Water.
Why? Because it can dry out your scalp. Instead use warm or moderately hot water.
4. Not Going Outside With Wet Hair.
Another one from chemistry class. If your hair is wet, then that water will turn to ice. That process can then physically break your hair.
What Else Can You Do?
You can also, of course, ensure that Reviv3 is part of your regimen. We recommend Prime Deep Moisture Conditioner & MEND Deep Repair Masque.
Basically, a little Reviv3 in your life can take care of that Dehydration Monster along with its cold friends Split Ends, Dullsville, and Dandruff.
Here’s wishing your winter is filled with good hair days! Simply take these steps to help ensure they are.
